○ RETROFIT PASSIVHAUS ○ COMING SOON

Originally designed in 1956 by modernist architect Stuart McIntosh, Autumn is a heritage-listed home undergoing a deep Passivhaus retrofit and contemporary extension. While decades of alterations compromised the original design, the project seeks to restore its architectural clarity while dramatically improving thermal performance. The original flat-roofed glass pavilion is retained and upgraded with high-performance glazing and insulation, while a separate double-storey addition to the south accommodates new bedrooms and family spaces. Rather than imitate the heritage building, the addition establishes a respectful contrast through pitched roofs, timber screening and landscaped connections, creating a dialogue between old and new, heritage and sustainability.
